Message to Delegates

I am delighted to be with you all for this important conference. It is a special pleasure be with my colleagues and fellow members of CILT Hong Kong again in their 50th anniversary year.

In the past year I have visited two planned capital cities, Abuja and Astana, and experienced the issues faced by continued global urbanisation in a variety of cities including Chengdu, Delhi, Karachi and my home city of Birmingham. They all face common issues and a very varied application of the term “Smart” in their planning of transportation and movement of people, goods and vehicles!

This conference will bring together people who can make a difference in this area in sharing knowledge and solutions and finding ways of applying those in varying political and social environments globally. CILT Hong Kong has a tradition in its 50 years of existence of successfully bringing together industry professionals, academic thought leaders and government policy makers and I am sure this conference will enable new solutions and new partnerships here, and in the wider geography, for a better tomorrow.

So listen, discuss, debate, decide and deliver! And enjoy the event!
